Rays sign free agent outfielder Burrell
NEW YORK (Reuters) - The American League champion Tampa Bay Rays signed free-agent outfielder Pat Burrell to a $16 million, two-year deal on Monday, Major League Baseball said on its website (www.mlb.com). The Rays, beaten in the World Series by Philadelphia, may give the former Phillies left-fielder the designated hitter's role.

| Eagles beat Vikings to win NFC wildcard game
NEW YORK (Reuters) - Philadelphia's Brian Westbrook took a short pass 71 yards for the game-clinching touchdown as the Eagles beat hosts Minnesota 26-14 in their NFC wildcard playoff game on Sunday. Westbrook put the Eagles out of sight with the long run from quarterback Donovan McNabb's screen pass in the fourth quarter.
